Birding, Birdwatching and nature

At Ten Acres, we have a wide variety of birds that occupy the Vermont bed and Breakfast grounds all year round.  Species include Chickadees, Finches, Goldfinches, Woodpeckers, Morning Doves, Red Winged Blackbirds, Wild Turkey, Cardinals, Blue Jays, Robins and more.  Bird feeders are located throughout the grounds to attract these beautiful creatures.

In addition, you'll find dozens of wood carvings of birds, such as those pictured at the right.  These carvings are the work of A.B. Wilson, an award winning artist.  He also happens to be innkeeper Frank's father.  A retired Navy Captain, AB took up carving over 25 years ago to fill in his free time in retirement.  That effort has led to a rewarding career that has included numerous awards at carving shows throughout the USA.  These carvings grace the common areas of the lodge and will truly amaze you with their detail and lifelike appearance.  Check them out when you visit.

Nature lovers in general will love walking around Ten Acres as we have plenty of wildlife that visit us almost daily.  Chipmunks and squirrels run around the place providing great entertainment to those who like to sit back and watch.  For those who may get up early, you might see one of the many deer that come to feed on the property.  In winter, their tracks are everywhere!  Woodchucks have made their home at Ten Acres and on any given day you'll see them working on their homes or grabbing a bite to eat.
