Ten Acres Lodge - A Stowe Vermont Bed and Breakfast

May 9, 2008

Spring has arrived in Stowe, Vermont

It has been a long time in coming but I see Goldfinches, Chipmunks and Tulips….Spring has FINALLY arrived in Stowe!

Sorry I’ve been out of touch awhile.
This time of year is known as the off season or more affectionately around here as “mud season”.
You may think that means little to do for an innkeeper but in reality, it’s the busiest time for me.
This year in particular with our lawsuit completed against our tenant (the restaurant) and cleaning up after that, lawn clean up, catching up on chores left undone from the winter and Spring cleaning…it leaves little time for blogging!
But here I am, back to report on all the goings on at Ten Acres Lodge (www.tenacreslodge.com) and Stowe Vermont.
And there is plenty to report.

At Ten Acres, we have been in the middle of upgarding our rooms and facilities.
We are begining the process of converting to higher thread count sheets on our beds, making them more comfortable.
A game room with card table and video games has been created.
We’ve added some nice touches throughout the main lodge which will make the living areas more relaxing and inviting.
And finally, we are starting our Sat. night dinner service (only for lodging guests) next weekend.
We’re excited about the changes and what it will mean to our guests.

For Stowe, we are coming upon a busy time of year I call the “Festival blitz”.
Many festivals are on the horizon and you should think about coming up and enjoying these wonderful events.
The
Vermont Culinary Classic (www.vermontculinaryclassic.com) is a great event for those of us who like to eat, experience new and exciting foods and just have fun.
They have events and classes for most anyone.
Another event worth noting in the Garden Festival (www.stowegardenfestival.com).
It’s a beautiful time of year to visit and the seminars and demonstrations are terrific.
This year a special “rain garden” will be installed here at Ten Acres to show how an eco-friendly garden can be created using native plants and rain water.
I’m excited about that!

Sorry again for the delay in posting a blog but I hope to be more regular in posts as we get into a normal routine.
Enjoy the Spring weather!
I certainly am!
