The summer is heating up in more ways than one here in Stowe. While we have had our share of rain lately, things are looking up for the rest of the summer. There are so many events in the next few weeks that its hard to mention them all. The Antique Car show…Taste of Stowe Arts Festival…Summer Music festival, Mozart Festival, The British Invasion Car show and much, much more. Even with all the gloom and doom on the news concerning the economy and gas prices, our humble little town seems to be filling up with visitors. If you plan to come up, make your reservations soon as most weekends are filling up fast. August is a great time to visit with pleasantly warm days and cool nights. At Ten Acres, we have the gardens full of flowers, the pool is pristine and the surroundings beautiful. Makes working so hard worth it! Now if I can only get some time off to catch a few of these events!
Hope to see you in Stowe and at Ten Acres Lodge.
One of the great traditions here in Stowe is the Music in the Meadow series. These outdoor concerts showcase Vermont at its best. The stage that houses the orchestra/artist sits in front of a beautiful mountain/valley where the sun sets each evening. The music, combined with the surrounding breathtaking scenery, make for an evening not to be forgotten. From our perspective, these concerts are great as they are just 1 mile away up the road from Ten Acres Lodge. The concerts are at Trapp Family Lodge and take place on Sunday evenings. We have many guests who stay with us Sunday night, take the short ride up to Trapps, pack a picnic dinner and some wine, and enjoy the “Music in the Meadow.” And just about each concert is ended with a firework display! There is a nice variety of artists including the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, The US Air Force band and others. It’s an event that’s enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. If you can make it up one Sunday, you should check it out…and of course stay at Ten Acres Lodge if you can…
The weather looks to be great for 4th of July with seasonal temps and sunny skies (that can change as we all know). So far we have avoided much of the extreme weather seen in other parts of the country so we feel blessed. Our temps have been running about average with pleasantly warm days (High 76-80 F) and cool nights (low 60-65 F). Hopefully that will continue throughout the summer. Only problem is the pool is still a little cool but I’ll take it!
All of us hope you have a wonderful and safe July 4 Holiday. And for all of us Americans, let’s remember what the holiday means and give a moment to thank those before us who gave us a great country.
